Buying a used robot dog: guide and prices

Buying a used robot dog is the simplest way to save: a Unitree Go2 Pro in good used condition is worth around €1,600–2,190, against €2,580 new (official list price $2,800). But precisely because we are talking about expensive, technological objects, you need to know what to check so you don't get it wrong — above all the state of the battery, which is the component that degrades the most. Here is the practical guide.

💡 Golden rule: on Robolero every used listing carries a deal rating, which compares the asking price with the model's market value. So you know in an instant whether you are getting a good deal.

"New" is the manufacturer's official list price converted to euros (USD × 0.92, verified on 18 September 2026); in European shops, VAT and shipping included, new costs more (Go2 Pro €3,799, G1 €27,000). "Used" is Robolero's indicative band for a unit in good condition; the real value depends on condition, year, hours of use, battery, included accessories and whether there is a warranty/invoice.

What to check before buying

1. The battery (the most important point)

It is the component that wears out. Ask how long it has been in use, how many charge cycles it has done and how much real runtime it offers today. A tired battery drastically reduces the robot's usefulness, and replacing it costs money: €460–600 for a Go2, €644–900 for a G1; on the CyberDog 2 it is internal and cannot be replaced by the owner. The best test: 15–20 minutes of timed walking, compared with the claimed runtime.

2. Accessories and box

Check that the charger, remote control/controller, any sensors and the original packaging are included. A complete kit is worth more and makes a future resale easier.

3. Physical condition and motors

Check that it walks smoothly, without jerks or unusual noises at the joints. The 12 joint motors (Go2, CyberDog 2) are the mechanical heart: irregular movement can indicate wear.

4. Updates and account

Make sure the software can be updated and that the robot is not locked to the seller's account. Ask for a reset to be done.

5. Documents

For imported models, the presence of an invoice, CE marking and manual is added value, especially if you buy from a dealer.

How to recognise a good deal

A good used price sits well below new and falls with age and wear: the table above gives the order of magnitude for each model. If a listing costs as much as new, it's not worth it; if it costs much less than average, check there are no hidden problems (battery, motors). Robolero's deal rating makes this comparison for you on every listing.

Frequently asked questions

How much do you save buying a used robot dog? It depends on the model, condition, year and accessories: the table above gives the order of magnitude. On a Go2 Pro, for example, the saving ranges from a few hundred euros to almost a thousand compared with the new list price.

What should I check on a used Unitree Go2? Above all the battery (cycles and remaining runtime), the smoothness of movement, the included accessories and that the account has been reset.

Is it better to buy used from a private seller or a dealer? The private seller costs less, the dealer offers more guarantees. It depends on how confident you feel assessing the robot yourself.

Where can I find used robot dogs? On Robolero you find listings from private sellers and dealers, each with a price rating.
