Booster K1 for private buyers: what RoboCup results do and do not prove

Robot football makes real progress visible: a humanoid must find the ball, stay upright and coordinate with teammates. A match, however, does not establish that the same robot can guard a home or perform chores. A private buyer should start with a simpler question: which Booster K1 edition is on the quotation, and what documented task will it serve?

Booster presents K1 as a development, education and competition platform. It is approximately 95 cm tall and 19.5 kg, with 22 degrees of freedom. Geek, Education and Professional share the broad body design but differ in battery and computing capacity.

These are manufacturer figures, not ROBOLERO measurements. The listed warranty is Booster's product statement; check consumer rights in the country of sale separately. The specified walking speed matters: runtimes reported under different conditions cannot simply be compared, and the TOPS figures use different metrics. Starts, stops, extra software and a difficult surface may change the result. Ask the seller to state the exact edition, battery, charger and warranty in one written offer.

What a football result establishes

The Humanoid Soccer League's official results document matches and rankings in 2026. They independently establish a competitive test environment. They do not measure how a privately purchased K1 cleans, grasps objects, protects people or works in a home. Teams develop their own software, and robot configurations vary. The Rome final on 25 October between HULKs and whIRLwind is a separate news event; we cannot assign a K1 variant to those filmed robots without direct identification.

Booster lists four degrees of freedom in each arm, which is not a promise of hands that can handle household tools. Its conversation, dance and soccer agents are platform functions and demonstrations, not evidence of general-purpose competence. For a developer, the more concrete value is the documented Python/C++ SDK, simulation tools and agent-development environment.

Cost and a useful decision

An EU retailer offers several K1 editions and a quotation route. A displayed starting price before selecting edition, destination and stock is not a delivered total for every customer. Request a written offer listing the edition, price in your currency, applicable tax, freight, delivery date, accessories, service and spare parts. An order button beside an out-of-stock item is not proof of prompt delivery.

For a classroom or lab, define the exercise first: manual control and basic code, visual perception or heavier onboard computing. Geek has the smaller stated battery; Education and Professional increase battery and compute but still need space, supervision and maintenance. In a home, K1 is best treated as a supervised educational project, not a documented ready-to-use household worker.

Compare ROBOLERO's K1 profile with the exact store quote and Booster's current specification. Existing runtime figures may reflect older test conditions, so check the edition and speed stated beside any number. If the delivered price and local support are not written down, postpone the purchase.
