Loona Premium won't return to its dock? Check the route first

Check the exact bundle first

This guide is for KEYi Loona Petbot Premium with its charging dock. KEYi says the Standard box has a USB-C cable but no dock, so a Standard robot cannot return to an accessory that was not bought. Check the box and the actual accessory before changing settings. Loona Deskmate is a different product. With a used unit, confirm that the dock is compatible and that the previous owner can transfer the app and account. The ROBOLERO Loona profile helps identify the model. The used-value tool considers accessories, but cannot replace a charging test.

Identify which failure you see

A robot that cannot find the dock is different from one that reaches it but fails to align. If it aligns and still does not charge, investigate power and contacts. This separation prevents needless resets and purchases. KEYi says Loona can return when its battery falls, yet furniture changes, multiple rooms and small obstacles can interrupt the journey. The maker does not promise perfect navigation in every home. Domestic Robot's independent researched review, explicitly not a hands-on test by its own editor, also records owner complaints about docking when Loona is farther away. Treat promotional clips as demonstrations, not a promise for your floor plan.

Place the dock properly

KEYi recommends a flat, hard surface, free space ahead and on both sides, and the dock's rear toward a wall. Do not cover the graphic codes on its front and sides: Loona uses them to recognize the station. Avoid thick carpet, slippery flooring and dim corners. Keep the dock in one place. KEYi's Auto Recharge 2.0 instructions say to delete and rebuild routes if you move it. A collision with a chair leg does not by itself prove a camera fault; first reduce obstacles and check lighting. The wheels need enough grip for accurate alignment.

Build Auto Recharge 2.0 routes

Open Hello Loona, then *Settings > Auto Recharge*. KEYi also describes a shortcut icon in the control screen. Select *Add First Route* and *Create New Route*. Put Loona at the starting point and face it in the direction it should travel. In the app, add waypoints that avoid narrow furniture gaps, stop the robot if necessary, and adjust its heading before the next point. The last segment should bring it in front of and directly facing the dock. Save a name that identifies the room. Repeat from other rooms; success from the living room does not prove success from the bedroom. KEYi says to observe the real path after saving and keep the dock's front and sides clear.

For a repeatable test, start with enough battery and watch the full return. Do not leave Loona unsupervised near stairs, pets or loose cables. KEYi says brief stopping or turning while it locates a route can be normal. If it repeatedly fails, note the exact point, light and battery level. Change one factor at a time. A single successful run is not evidence of everyday reliability.

Know when to stop

If navigation works but charging does not start, inspect the cable and power supply as directed by the manual without opening the robot or dock. If you notice abnormal noise, damage or overheating, disconnect the base and contact KEYi. For a used Loona, ask for one continuous video showing starts from two rooms, return, docking and the charging indicator. Also check the app version and whether the dock is included. This tells you more than a photo of Loona switched on. See ROBOLERO's warranty and parts guide and other practical guides. ROBOLERO has not physically tested your unit.
